Blog Back end

Back in September I had the huge honour of photographing the wedding of two really good friends of mine at a really unique venue in Birkenhead, Woodside Ferry Terminal. I've known Danny and Charl for many years and I was looking forward to capturing the day almost as much as the party afterwards! With a 4PM ceremony things were very chilled in the morning at the couples house for bridal prep, which gave us plenty of time to shoot some perfect detail shots around the house before I headed off to Port Sunlight to meet up with the boys. When I arrived back things were in full swing at the house and the camper van was outside ready to chariot everyone off to Woodside.

When I arrived ahead of the bridal party I couldn't believe the transformation of the venue from when we met up to go over everything. It looked pretty amazing thanks to(I assume, sorry Dan) Charl's creative eye, and it was the perfect intimate setting for this small, personal ceremony. It was the first time that I'd ever seen Dan looking nervous, but he didn't have to wait for long as the camper arrived and Charl turned heads as she walked down the aisle. The ceremony was short but meaningful and it was a real pleasure to be there to capture it. And with the formal stuff out of the way everyone headed outside for some fortunate September sun! After some group shots we headed off in the camper for couples portraits, including a cheeky smoke bomb shot that I had never attempted before.

As a beautiful evening set in some more guests arrived and everybody gathered around for the first dance, and as the last note of The Kinks faded out the evenings entertainment, the amazing Flynn & Tonics kicked things off. Music, dancing and laughter followed and once I had caught enough of the action I put my cameras down and headed to the bar to join in with the fun. It was such an honour to join in with the festivities after what had been an amazing day watching two friends get married, and an even greater honour that they had chosen me to capture it all. Check out some of my favourites images from the day below, full vendors list at the bottom!
